It’s been awhile…

June 7th, 2008 · No Comments

I go through lazy stretches where I just don’t feel like writing anything. Not that I’m going to start writing a million pointless posts a day, but here’s a quick update on what I missed.

Derrick Jasper is gone.
John Cohen is gone.
Jon Hood is a Cat.
Matt Pilgrim is possibly a Cat.
DeAndre Liggins might not qualify.
Just about every rumor started by Tubby lovers and jealous Louisvilel fans (I hate lumping them together) are squashed by this excellent article.
On a somewhat related note, Louisville fans are still obsessed with Kentucky.

Jasper definitely gone… or is he?

May 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Yeah, he’s gone.

But wait, not so fast. It appears Gillispie is going to give him a little time to be with family and then visit Jasper this weekend to make one more push at keeping him as a Wildcat.

While it would not destroy Kentucky for Jasper to leave, they would be just that much better if he were to stay. It’s not quite over yet so stay tuned.

Jon Hood is a Wildcat

May 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Local Kentucky boy Jon Hood has committed to the Wildcats.  Hood committed tonight while being interviewed by Marc Maggard.  This is a huge pickup for Kentucky since not only is he a local player, but he’s actually good.  Kentucky is on the way to solidify their lineup for the future.

New Commitment

May 5th, 2008 · No Comments

Marc Maggard is reporting Kentucky got a verbal commitment from a 2011 player that visited Kentucky today.  Again, I don’t want to get on bad terms with someone that provides as much valuable information as Marc does, so I won’t be giving the name just yet (not like anyone comes here for their breaking news anyway).   But, here is the link (free registration required) to his post about this 6′7″ future Wildcat.

Here we go again…

May 5th, 2008 · No Comments

It starts again. The idiot Cardinal fans found something they think they can spin and are running with it. I knew when I heard about Kentucky getting a commitment from an 8th grader, the Cardinal scum would come out from underneath their rocks and spin the story faster than Phil Pfister could spin the wheel on the Price is Right. And you know, I was right.

Big surprise? Not really. Cardinal fans are as predictable as the outcome of a World title match at a house show. Before the ink could dry on the newspaper (or for the internet generation it’s the equivalent to before the blog page finished loading) the Cardinal fans were out in full force.

While I will not link to the specific posts because it only provides fuel for the trolls, I will say you can find the rivalry page of the Cardinals rivals.com site riddled with Kentucky posts… not only posts about Kentucky, but started by Cardinal fans. They back up their obsession by saying it is a site about their rivals. But 30 seconds after looking at the page, you realize it’s a site for them to make up whatever stories their feeble minds can think of.

So anyway, the Cardinal crew, while trying to pretend Louisville is its own entity and completely separate from the state of Kentucky, have decided to focus their hatred on the commitment of an 8th grader. Immediately they start in saying how Gillispie is a creep, out watching and recruiting 12,13, and 14 year old kids. One idiot in particular is attempting to say Gillispie has skirted the rules by making contact with this kid. No matter that he is faced with the facts, he still claims Kentucky is breaking the rules. His comments are a weird mixture of jealousy, intrigue, and psychotic rage.

It is easy to refute his claims. An article came out shortly after the commitment detailing the recruiting process. It seems Gillispie was attending a game to check on a couple of older recruits. He saw Michael Avery, this 8th grader, play with older kids and hang with him. Gillispie was impressed by this kid’s ability and word soon got out. Gillispie was not allowedto contact Avery directly due to recruiting restrictions imposed by the NCAA. However, his fath caught wind that Gillispie may be interested in his son and attempted to make contact. Several tries later, he got in tough with Gillispie. Gillispie then said he liked what he saw and offered a scholarship. End of story.

To see Cardinal fans talk about it, first UK is so desperate they’re going after 8th graders. Then it morphed into, somehow, Gillispie is now stalking kids. Thrown in there, they seem to think Lee Todd is gonig to fire Gillispie because he was quoted as saying he was surprised by the offer and that it wasn’t his favorite move.

But don’t let facts confuse your idiotic statements Cardinal fans. You wonder why you get banned when posting on the Kentucky boards? It’s because you’re living such a sheltered life on your rivalry board that you have confused fiction with reality. Anything goes over there. Cardinal fans can call someone out, talk about their family, make lies up about what your friend’s cousin’s neighbors dog saw someone do, but if you are a UK fan defending your team on what is supposed to be a rivalry board (there are 2 or 3 Big East posts on the first couple of pages, that is how they justify it as a rivalry board) your post either gets deleted or you get banned. It’s no wonder they go place to place spewing their hatred. But since the people in charge are the same clueless fans posting on the “rivalry” board, their unfounded words of hate still survive.

Oh, and not all Cardinal fans are complete idiots as exhibited by 99% of the rivalry posts blah blah blah…

Commitment coming Monday?

April 30th, 2008 · No Comments

I’m seeing that there may be a rather large commitment coming from a player on Monday.  I’m not sure how tightly Marc Maggard wants to hold his information (I don’t want to be on bad terms with someone in the know), so I won’t divulge the name of the recruit.  However, if I’ve heard correctly, Maggard is hearing the recruit is likely to verbal on his visit.

When it rains, it pours

April 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Kentucky basketball receive 2 commitments today.  Dominique Ferguson, a current 5 star forward in the class of 2010 announced he will be heading to the Wildcats.  He is 6′8″ with a 7′+ wingspan.
The bigger news of the commitments, simply because it affects the immediate future, is Josh Harrelson.  Harrelson, after what appeared to be a slip up in an interview with Marc Maggard, decided to make his intentions known and will be a Wildcat next season.  He will be a great compliment to Patterson and should step in and make a difference.  And from the sound of the Kentucky.com article, he’s exactly the type of player UK is looking for.
